Life, the Universe, and Everything.
(Mostly Harmless.)
Well, I'm not really bad, but it sounds a lot cooler than me just saying "I'm back".
Quick-and-dirty Afton update: I'm still not done re-organizing my closets, but it's the thought that counts.
- My little Bro graduated from high school last weekend! Yays!
I am SO proud of him. Brought back a lot of flashbacks, too...it's been 9 years since I left that building and I was one of the lucky kids that had a really good high school experience. Bro had a couple of my old teachers and they came to his open house, so I enjoyed seeing them. My aunt and cousin were in town, and my Seester flew in from LA, so we had a full house! Tumnus was ever so excited to see everybody.
- Jeanie, I've been watching "Deadliest Catch"! And yes, I thought it was hilarious that the Time Bandit boys went fishing on their vacation. I also really liked the Time Bandit Flour Pot. (That WAS this season, right? I swear, they show so many re-runs that I lose track...)
- I read "The Tale of Despereaux" and "Wicked" over the past couple weeks and enjoyed them both immensely. Now I'm on to another book by Sabatini, the author who wrote Captain Blood. That book is about a doctor who becomes a pirate. This book is about a gentleman who becomes a Barbary corsair. Yeah, I like this theme.
Which brings back one of my favorite quotes by H.L. Mencken: "Every normal man must be tempted at times to spit on his hands, hoist the black flag, and begin to slit throats."
- I went to see the Star Trek movie in an IMAX theater a few weeks ago and absolutely LOVED it! Was very excited to see Karl Urban as Bones, although I must say that Scotty stole the show. The entire movie was hilarious, but oh my gosh: "You eat, like, a BEAN, and you're done!!" Bwaahaha! And did anybody else get that bit about the beagle?
- Also went to see the second "Night at the Museum" movie with Bro and my cousin. I thought the first one was okay, but I nearly busted a gut laughing at this one. Oh, my. The bad guy's lisp TOTALLY sold it.
Aaaaand...yeah. Other than that, I've been workin'. Got a couple complicated cases going right now and I'm still trying to figure out exactly what's going on...Numminy-bear bounced back none the worse for wear after he got neutered and is still a wild man. But he's just so darn cute. And I got to deal with my first HBC dog (hit by car) that, luckily, had pretty minor injuries when all was said and done.
And there you have it!
