Yo!
Oy. Has been rather hectic lately, but not necessarily bad.
Heh...I just realized that "yo" is "oy" backwards, and it's making me laugh.
Had to make a bunch of food on Sunday afternoon for the youth group Christmas party (which I had forgotten about until late Thursday night) then the typical long day Monday. Yesterday was pretty interesting...had 3 not-the-norm surgeries, which was a nice change. I had to take out a dog's infected tooth, which I was kind of dreading since sometimes those can be a BEAR to deal with, but it went absolutely great from x-ray to extraction! Then I had to do surgery on a puppy to remove parts of an unidentified toy from his stomach and small intestine. Little dude's not even six months old yet...hopefully this isn't going to be a pattern. And THEN I had to do a one-sided mastectomy on a cat with a mammary tumor, which involves taking all four glands on that side. Not really a hard surgery, but time consuming. But still fun!
Long day, though...I left an hour late, and with the pile o' snow that got dumped yesterday, it took me an hour to get home, going about 20 mph.
On the Fuzzy Front, Tumnus is doing well! He's gained a pound since I brought him home a little over a week ago, and we are very slowly starting to get breakthroughs in housetraining. It's hard because we're never home - he's always at work with me, and although he gets tons of attention from everyone, he can't get taken outside every hour (or less)
like he needs to go if he's going to avoid all accidents. But his little fluffy brain is starting to catch on...I was excited this morning because he actually asked to go out! Unfortunately, I didn't realize that's what he was doing...I thought he was barking at his food dish because he seems to take issue with empty containers. I was actually on my way to take him out, but I was apparently 30 seconds too slow because he'd already poo-ed in his crate. But he asked!! So, yay progress!
He's going to be mad at me today, though. He usually rides on my lap when we drive (which I'd rather he didn't do) but today he's going in the carrier I just borrowed from my co-worker. He's going to be pissed, but we got acquainted with the carrier last night and he's not scared of it...and with the roads in the monstrous condition that they're in, I can't risk him distracting me.
So that's the Afton Edition of the news.
