Life, the Universe, and Everything.
(Mostly Harmless.)
Every time I hear the news, I still am so glad that the US ship captain was rescued the other day. I think it's absolutely amazing how he gave himself up for his crew. So I still get excited when I hear updates on that situation. And now of course I feel like I also need to post a little disclaimer that when I say pirates are cool, I'm not talking about real pirates, because that situation stinks. I'm talking about swashbuckling, adventuring, fictional pirates that are based on violent ciminals that weren't cool at *their* point in history either. I know everyone knows that...but I feel better now that I've said it.
Oh my gosh, yesterday Tumnus did something that nearly killed me. Yesterday was a LONG day...got home an hour late, and when I let him off his leash inside, he ran straight to my bedroom, which is the one room in my apartment where I will leave stuff on the floor. I'd left laundry in there and forgotten to put the baby gate up before I left yesterday morning. Well, I chased after him in time to see him grab a sock. He knew I wouldn't be happy so he retreated under the bed, but then he turned around, snatched a SECOND sock and bolted out of sight.
I crawled under the bed after him, but the sight of him with his mouth stuffed with socks - he knew he was goin' down, so I guess he wanted to take as many articles of clothing down with him as he could - made me absolutely lose it. So I get the socks from him, but I'm lying on the floor half under my bed, laughing like a lunatic with tears running down my face.
I haven't laughed that hard in a LONG time. Tumnus was just staring at me with a mixture of guilt and "What the heck is wrong with you, girl?" on his face. It took me a good five minutes to settle down enough to scoot out from under my bed with the little thief in tow. He made a second grab for the socks under the bed while I was incapacitated with laughter but that attempt at thievery was thwarted. I just can't believe the nerve he's got.
